The holidays are a special time of year for many people all over the world. Here in Columbus Ohio, a very popular event that citizens enjoy attending, regardless of religious background, is the Wildlights display found at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. This year the event runs from November 18 through January 1st, with the exception of being closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

The Wildlights are a great date night spot, or just a fun experience to share with your family and friends. The Columbus Zoo offers many things for younger children as well, such as carousel rides, hot chocolate, and music. The zoo puts up almost 3 million lights a year covering many regions of the whole zoo campus.

Junior Maggie Erickson attends the Wildlights every year with her family. She has also taken the kids she babysits with her as well. “The zoo lights are a great event to soak in the holiday spirit, and spend quality time with friends and family,” says Erickson. The zoo lights first came to life 34 years ago and have since been a magical occasion.

As the holiday season approaches, it’s important that we cherish the memories we have with the people we love because each year brings new beginnings. If you’re looking for a fun opportunity this winter, then the Columbus Zoo Wildlights are definitely something to consider.
