Announcements for February 10th and 11th 2021

  • In an effort to celebrate this Black History Month we will be airing little known Black History facts throughout the month. Before there was Rosa Parks fighting for desegregation on a Montgomery, Alabama bus, there was Claudette Colvin. At just 15 years old, she stayed seated and refused to move to the back of the bus. According to PBS, Colvin had previously learned about the plight of Harriet Tubman and other early activists. It’s believed she said, “It felt like Sojourner Truth was on one side pushing me down, and Harriet Tubman was on the other side of me pushing me down. I couldn’t get up.”

  • Obviously, the 2020-2021 School Year was deprived of a proper Homecoming. However, we want to make sure the Class of 2021 is honored and knows that they are loved. The 2021 TWHS Cupid’s Court will work towards this goal. It will be made up of all Seniors. Six seniors will be selected to serve on Court with the top two being deemed “Cardinal Royalty.”Over the past few days, the Staff of TWHS was asked to nominate up to two seniors that they think reflect the best of TWHS. You’ll find the ballot posted in your Graduating class’ Schoology Page. Don’t see someone you think should be on Court below? Fear not! There is a write-in option! Voting Ends Wednesday 2/10 at 3:05pm
