After the final buzzer, the students were let down by a 27-35 loss to the staff Basketball team. The time-honored tradition of the student-staff basketball game is a spring event that builds school spirit in a playful way. The student team had a selection of senior player including Dominic Parini, Ashton Hoke, Will Gams, Joseph Brewu, Omar Avent, Alex Schmitt, Lily Nichols, Kya Grey-Webster, Delaney Kuck, and Lius Singletary. Dominic Parini was a key player for the students. 

 “You know I had fun myself but we could’ve played much betteOur passing was off along with our shooting, and handles. Overall our team just had a bad game and it could’ve been much better if we took practice seriously.” Said Paririni

It seems that many if not all of the student players felt as if they could have played better including Kya grey webster.

“Honestly our team chemistry could’ve been better. We werr. e just arguing so much and many players hogged the ball which really held us back. I feel like we could’ve used a couple more practices; that definitely would’ve helped us come together as a team.”

Looking at the game from a different perspective, the coach Gill  shared their thoughts on the loss, focusing on what the team can learn and improve moving forward.

“After my intense pregame speech I thought this game was ours to win, However as soon as we stepped foot on the court it’s like everything I said went out the door. We just couldn’t get the job done on either side of the court. I did get a tech for throwing a chair on the court so I would like to formally apologize to my team and the officials for my act of misconduct.”

The student staff basketball game has been a tradition here at Thomas Worthington for decades and is a fun way to brighten up the cold days in March. The teachers add another win to the collection with this one. In the end it was a good game, but what do you think? Could the students have played better or do you think they really gave it their all.
