The Thomas Worthington men’s baseball team season is in full swing. With little time left in the school year and many seniors on the team we decided to talk to two of the senior leaders, Sam Motter and Braeden Schmidt about their experience and hopes for their senior season so far.
Sam Motter ( DH, LF ), who has played for the Cards for all 4 years of high school shared his thoughts about how his time has been with the team
“Playing the sport I love and playing with some of my best friends make the baseball experience really joyful,” said Motter.
Sam also let us know about some of the goals he hopes to achieve and the struggles from last year he wants to overcome.
“I wanted to win regionals last year,” says Motter. “We were very close to winning in the regional semi-final but ended up coming up short, so I want to get over the hump and win the region this year.”
But we couldn’t write a sports article without bringing up that terrible team in gray and blue. We asked both Sam and Braeden about who they are most excited to play, and both gave a pretty expected answer.
“Kilbourne is a big rivalry game, and it’s at Kilbourne, so it will be pretty exciting. We won last year, and we are hoping to keep up the streak of beating Kilbourne,” Motter says.
And Braeden gave us a more straight-to-the-point answer.
“At Kilbourne,” said Schmidt, so as not to get too fired up about the rivalry in hopes of keeping the interview civil.
Braeden Schmidt has played 4 years of Cardinals baseball as a Pitcher and has arguably grown the greatest mustache in TWHS baseball history
Braeden is continuing his baseball career with the Battling Bishops at Ohio Wesleyan University.
So make sure to catch a game with the short time left in school and give our seniors a shout! And get excited for the postseason magic of the Thomas Worthington Cardinals!
