As the close to the school year is approaching, there are students that will not be returning to Thomas Worthington next year. Seniors last day is Wednesday, May 13th. That marks an end to their schooling unless they continue on to college. There are many students from Thomas Worthington that are going straight into the work force and others are going to universities across the country. There are some universities that are very popular for Thomas Worthington graduates. The most notable being Ohio State University, then the University of Cincinnati and then finally Ohio University.
After 13 long years of schooling, these students have been in school way longer than they haven’t. There have been many highs and lows from different test scores to extra curricular activities whether that is a sport or club. This is a bitter sweet feeling for students, described as almost a euphoric feeling that doesn’t quite seem like reality.
Landyn Sterling is a senior at Thomas Worthington that is going to continue her education at the University of Cincinnati for Journalism. She describes her expiring time at Thomas Worthington as bitter sweet. She is looking towards new things that await her in these next steps of her life, but she made sure to show gratitude for all the blessings she recieved in the community that Landyn grew up in.
Landyn reflected on the relationships that she has built in this recent year referring back to senior tag and the time that she spent participating in that, and also gaining her best friend in her time in high school.
“It’s so cliche but time really does go by so fast and it’s hard to believe I will already be walking that stage in just a few weeks”. Sterling said.
Collin Chase is another senior at Thomas Worthington that is going to enroll at The Ohio State University for Chemical Engineering. Collin reflects on his time remaining in high school as a weird feeling. He is excited for what awaits but he feels sad to leave all the memories that he has made and people that he has befriended along the way.
Collin is the class president for seniors and he reflects that some of his best memories have been from the sports that he has played and the events that he has held.
“Things like Cardinal day, school dances, and the talent show are things that I will never forget”. Chase said.
The time is winding down and emotions are only going to grow, before students know it they will be looking across that stage about to grasp the diploma that they have been working towards for 13 years. “Change is almost never easy so saying goodbye is hard”.
