The countdown to Christmas has begun, and TWHS students are deciding whether to buy gifts online or brave the cold and head to stores. Online deals and speed are the reasons why online shopping is the obvious decision. But in-store shopping offers sounds and nostalgia that only a shopping experience can deliver. Senior Brian Blessing explained,” I prefer to shop online, because you can get better deals, and you have more of a variety of what you’re looking at, and you can find the perfect thing for the person you’re shopping for.”
However, the deals and fast shipping aren’t always a deciding factor. Personally, picking out a gift in stores means so much more than just ordering something online. Senior Kaleb Ridenbaugh stated, “I feel like I enjoy shopping sometimes, so it kind of just gives it another level of meaning by going out and getting it myself instead of ordering it online.” Getting a gift in stores for someone special or a loved one makes the experience even more meaningful.
Ultimately, shopping in a store vs online offers unique experiences. Which one you prefer depends on what you value most: fast and efficient, or taking your time and hand-picking stuff in the store, as Charlie McAlister explained, “ I like shopping online because of the convenience, it’s easier. I don’t have to go out and shop for stuff.” Ultimately, whichever one you choose, the holiday spirit still finds a way to provide.
