LEGOs aren’t just for kids. They’re basically a hobby for anyone who likes building cool stuff and taking a break from screens. But what makes people actually spend hours snapping bricks together? We asked some LEGO fans to spill the tea.
How We Pick Our Sets
For CX Cummings, a TWHS junior, it’s simple: “I will buy a LEGO set if it looks super cool. I usually go for ones from movies or shows I like”. His favorite theme? Star Wars, hands down. The Jango Fett UCS Slave One is his ultimate set.
Connor Bartter, another junior at TWHS, takes a bit more planning when buying . “I think about price, if I have space to put it, and if I can actually commit to building it. I like knowing I can afford it before I buy.” His favorite theme is Marvel, and he’s been building LEGOs since he was little.
Brian Seitz, father of TWHS student is all about collectability. “I look for sets that might be worth more in the future.” He’s into LEGO Architecture, with the Robie House, a Frank Lloyd Wright design, being his top pick.
More Than Just Fun
LEGO building isn’t just for showing off your collection. It’s actually kinda therapeutic. Cummings says, “It helps me relax because it gets me away from screens and makes me work with my hands.”
Bartter agrees. “It’s a way to focus on something else for a while. Building LEGO is relaxing and takes your mind off life.” Seitz adds, “It’s super meditative. Really calming to just focus on putting pieces together.”
Why We Can’t Stop
Whether it’s Star Wars, Marvel, or crazy architecture sets, LEGOs provide a chance to be creative, chill, and maybe even show off a little. There’s a set for literally everyone, and it’s easy to see why the obsession isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
