People often only think of teachers inside the classroom, but many students have wondered what they do when school is out. It turns out many of the amazing teachers at Thomas Worthington have secret side hustles.
Ms. Goebbel is a history and economics teacher at Thomas Worthington. She has been very involved in the school since coming from the Olentangy district.
For the first 4 years, she was an athletic director, and during that time she still had a side job.
That side job being a server at Cameron’s American Bistro which is conveniently right down the street from Thomas Worthington.
Mr. Joyce is a science teacher of 4 years at Thomas Worthington teaching multiple classes such as biology, honors biology and environmental science who has followed both his dreams of teaching and becoming a meteorologist.
“I always thought that either weather or teaching would be something I would like to do and I thought, why don’t I combine the two?” said Joyce. “And honestly, I’ve been able to do that here at Thomas”.
Many of the readers may already know Mr. Joyce from his work outside of school as he works for Channel 10 usually doing the weekend morning reports.
Mr. Joyce makes sure to combine his two passions to teach his students on the science of meteorology by bringing other meteorologists and scientists into the classroom to discuss and answer questions in the classroom, giving students personal and qualified learning experiences.
Giani Daniels, a former student of Mr Joyce shared his experiences from his time with Mr Joyce.
“I really enjoyed his class, he was a really fun and interesting teacher,” said Daniels.
This is just a little look into some of the amazing hidden skills and talents of the teachers here at Thomas Worthington, so next time you talk to a teacher make sure to ask what they are doing this weekend!
