Sophia Borghese, TWHS senior, has been a powerhouse field hockey player all four years of playing for the Cardinals. Her skill and drive have gifted her with countless numbers of opportunities.
One of those many opportunities is the offer to play Division one field hockey at Miami University,
“I picked Miami due to the culture, and when I went on my visit, I fell in love with Oxford,” Borghese said.
Her commitment to excellence on and off the field has clearly paid off, and she’s excited to take the next step in her athletic career.
Having helped lead the Cardinals to four consecutive state championships, Borghese feels those experiences have prepared her well for the challenges ahead.
“I think the pressure of competing at a high level has prepared me to handle stressful situations, and the hard work I have had to put in all four years will prepare me to take the next step in college–especially the conditioning,” Borghese said.
With a strong foundation built from years of competition and success, Borghese is ready to embrace the next chapter of her athletic journey.
Borghese recognizes the importance of the adjustments she needs to make,
“The speed of the game and everyone’s talent levels, I will need to adapt to. Any transition from one level to the next always needs a little extra preparation–I will need to get used to my new team, my new coach, and the culture of the team,” Borghese stated.
Despite the challenges ahead, Borghese remains confident in her ability to rise to the occasion and continue growing as both an athlete and a teammate.
As she closes out her high school career, Borghese leaves behind an impressive legacy built on dedication, leadership, and passion for the game. With her heart set on Miami University, she’s ready to bring that same drive and determination to the next level of competition.
