With lacrosse season in full swing, both varsity and JV players are putting in the work, bonding with teammates, and trying to get better every single day. For these guys, it’s not just about winning games. It’s about growing as a team and having fun while doing it. Varsity player Jake Fisher is all about showing up early and getting in extra reps.
“I usually get to practice like 30 minutes early to do wall ball,” said Fisher. “Then we do stick skills, and the rest of practice is usually defensive stuff or team drills.” Jake’s way of getting hyped before a big game is definitely unique. “My ritual is a pre-game poop and Brawl Stars.” He says the team culture this year is simple. “Just getting better every day.” KP Young, another varsity player, says the vibe on the team is all about hard work and bonding.
“We’re a hardworking team, really putting in the work and hanging out as we go,” Young said. “Practices start with stickwork as a team, then we split into offense and defense before finishing with 6 on 6 drills.” For KP, chilling before games is just as important as the practice itself.
“I talk to the bois on the bus, take things light, and listen to music to calm my nerves,” he said. And of course, he has his own pre-game ritual too. Bathroom breaks with all the bois.
On JV, Ben Weyrauch says the squad is super tight-knit and fun.
“We usually get there early, do a little warm up, stretches, passing, then split into offense and defense,” said Weyrauch. “We finish with a little O vs D scrimmage. Before games, I just try not to overthink it. Listen to music, watch some clips, and play Brawl Stars with the BOIs.”
Even though everyone has their own routines, the common thread is clear. Dedication, teamwork, and having fun. From early morning wall ball to late night gaming sessions, these lacrosse players are ready for a competitive season and a lot of laughs along the way.
