It has been quite the season so far for TWHS Ice Hockey, with an impressive total of 17 wins. This success from the team will only continue to grow with teamwork.
Senior Quinn Sweeney explained what he believes was the biggest factor contributing to the team’s success,
“Playing and acting as a team on and off the ice really changed the way we play, embracing the team culture made us grow and made us a more serious opponent,” (Sweeney).
By fully buying into the team culture, the players were able to make noticeable improvements from the early weeks of the season.
“Learning how to deal with adversity like being down a few goals was something we didn’t have at the beginning of the season, which is important for us as our schedule gets harder,” said Calvin Swiniarski, TWHS Senior Hockey Goalie.
That ability to respond under pressure set the stage for some of the team’s most defining moments this season.
Senior Eli Hall shared his favorite moment of the season,
“I would say that coming back in the third period to beat Olentangy Orange was a great representation of us as a team battling adversity and overcoming challenges,” Hall said.
Defining moments such as these tested individual focus just as much as team unity.
“I feel like I play best when the lights are on me, so just remembering to play loose has helped a lot,” Swiniarski said. “Trying not to overthink things is probably the thing I focused on most during the offseason, and it’s helped produce wins for us this season”.
With a foundation built on trust, resilience, and confidence, TWHS Ice Hockey has positioned itself as a team ready to meet every challenge ahead.
